hi guys i have a fiat brava 14 cc 12V year 1999 and the problem is that my car is misfire and black smoke is comeing out of the exhaust pipe and it keeps on revs by it self i had this problem like 2 weeks ago and i change the oxygen sensor and it was ok and then like 2 days ago it is misfire again and the dash light it stays on :/ please help me guys

i did that , but i try again and yes the dash injector light is on

try cleaning injectors and doing a engine tuneup.

black smoke means a lean mixture. Most common cause: Clogged air filter. Check it first. If the filter is good, second step is MAF sensor and throttle position sensor. The fuel injector sensor is the next step. If after all that, it's still a problem, the fuel injection system itself could be bad. I.E bad injectors.

Get a diagnosis done on the ECU, decode the faults and clear them. It should report any sensor faults etc, such as temperature (you have already changed the lambda sensor so that should be OK).

Because the injection system is simple the misfire problem should not be fuel, so check the cylinder compressions and spark plugs. Also the plug leads could be faulty, quite easy to check and change. The coil pack could have failed, I think it may be the same one as several Puntos where one part of the coil pack fires 2 cylinders, so a fault could kill 2 cylinders. Balck smoke is unburned fuel, so a rich mixture or no spark....

Hi.i have the same problem with a seicento 1.1,I have changed spark plugs, ht leads and coil packs but I still have a miss fire and the car is using water.has the head casket gone.

Hi , welcome, and GOOD CALL :)

on older OBD1 cars, the light is usually triggered by unburnt fuel , sensed by the Lambda exhaust probe.

Engel10 hasn't replied in 6 months.. so suspect the car is either fixed , or scrapped.

thankfully in Malta FIAT's tend to live on ;)
