That's a genuine speed blur and no photoshop. :D

I went to Leeds Saturday to collect an new windscreen and before I get it fitted I thought I would indulge...

...and fit the hard earned sun strip first. ;)

My poor old laptop. It took forty eight minute to upload to YouTube and about three hours to pull from the camera, convert to video file, edit together and publish to the hard drive.

A few additions today...

...it'll make sense when the new windscreen is fitted Tuesday.

It was my first time round there in a car and even though my Bravo and I were the slowest, by the end of the day we were only a couple of seconds behind.

As I went along the sweeping left hander off the first chicane the inside front wheel would lift scrubbing acceleration on to the back straight. The chicane along the back straight would pull the car down to the flat spot in third gear and the weight of the wheels combined with that flat spot meant I was crawling out to the second part of it. The extra weight helped through the sweeping section but the rotating mass would cook the brakes after five or six laps.

I have a new rear anti-roll bar on the way to try and keep the inside front down and I have a set of lighter sixteen inch wheels or the option to get a set of lightweight fifteens. ;)

This is the run where it felt as if I had a puncture. I have no idea what it actually was. The car was fine for the next solo run.

Weekly update. :)

The new windscreen was fitted Tuesday...

....and a Seagull crapped all over the car before I had finished putting the trim and wipers back.

Everyone's a critic.

Optima Stainless Steel made me a base plate so I can start folding my mani.

Failed to collect a rack from work...

...but managed a load of parts for my GSXR250-SP project.

I'm only off work today this week so I doubt I'll have much or anything to report next week. Meh.

My Blyton Superbike School day next Thursday... :slayer:

How'd it go?

The car will certainly look different at the June event.

Trying to fit into Dave Walker's schedule at Emerald to see how many of the 115hp have escaped and get a base line before I start playing with tools. ;)

P.S I don't know what the caption says. It's out of focus and this months PPC is in WH Smiths Thursday.

My bike school / trackday went very well thanks, enjoyable and informative. Must be quite different in a car compared to a bike, a lot less tecknical and a lot busier judging from your 2nd video (1st run with passenger). What the hell was that boxy little yellow van think that went flying past you around 6 mins???

It was a bit crowded. I only managed a dozen or so clean laps (laps without having to slow down and move out of someones way).

That was a 300bhp Cosworth YB powered Reliant Kitten. :)

The Megane was an RS280. By the end of the day I was only a second slower than the next car and about two and a half seconds slower than the RX8 231's and various modified MX5's.

Last night was Friday for me so it was...

Take work to work night. :slayer:

My mani is now folded. ;)

Yes I cheated. It's the four branch manifold from the N/A 16V Fiat Coupe' parts donor from last year. I cut the Coupe' base plate off and welded the pipework to the Bravo base plate I got from Optima Stainless Steel the other week.

Three reasons...

1/ It was in my shed taking up space.
2/ I don't have a pipe bender. I was supposed to have bought myself one this month but bought other bits instead.
3/ It works out cheap in case PPC bring back the £999 Challenge.

£20 plate, £30-ish (estimated value) manifold and a bit of time. :)

It might even fit. Haven't measured it yet.

Wow! Six bolts and a bit of faffing about...

...and I have a new car. :)

It feels like the front tyres are duct-taped to the floor compared to before.

I was concerned about the number of joins in the brake pipes and I bought GSXR bits instead of a pipe bender as planned this month so my exhaust...

...looks like a horror film but sounds like Friday night on Southend Prom' circa 1998 :slayer:

Oh and the caption in PPC was...

"Do you tow it from the headlight washer?"

...my reply was...

"The hole for the tow hook is a bit lower. That does explain your belly button fetish though".

We all know yellow cars are invisible. It's one of the reasons I painted my bumpers red.

Oh well the bumper now looks as rough as the rest of the car at least. ;)

I thought a little retail therapy was in order.

Take the flappy pipe bits off and it's only twice the size of my AC pump.

Bits I'm keeping are shiny. Bits for eBay mucky. :)

Charging my supers in time for June is a tad optimistic so...

Should I concentrate on stage one (exhaust, suspension, wheels and brakes) and leave the supercharger for the September track day or push it?

I need to get the exhaust done so I can see how much room I have around the air conditioning pump. Also just a small detail...

What way round does the charger need to spin?

...could be good to know. :D

With these in mind I may have to put the alternator where the AC pump is and the charger round the back. So much plumbing would be involved I could have the first supercharged car with a load of lag.

Bugger part one...

The manifold doesn't fit due to the AC pump.

Bugger part two...

I managed to snap the gas feed pipe whilst faffing about.

HxyxcQ2J.jpg

Just as well there wasn't any gas in there.

Bugger.
