Hi,

I bought a Fiat Brava 2001 model last march(2005-used), and I noticed that the car is heating up in long traffic signals. I found the problem is with the radiator fan. When I approached the dealer for that, it was very expensive.
Could any tell me wheather I can fit any other radiator fan of any other car models, like Kia Karnival or any thing that can work fine with Brava..?

Regards
Cyr

Depends what you mean. A fan is a fan so provided it blows the right way, is the same voltage and power then it will work. Now whether it will fit straight in or you can modify it to fit is a different story. Have a look around the scrappies is an idea

I once even put a separate fan on a manual switch on one car so you can switch it on manually whenever you like
Hell who needs automation? Temp needle rises: turn the fan on

There is not too many Fiat cars our here, So finding it in scrappies would be difficult. One friend suggested to use "Kia" car fan, but he is not sure wheather it will fit in brava. I am seeking information on which alternative car fan I can use in brava, or anyone can give me information about the specification of Brava's Radiator Fan, So that I can find something similar to it.

Hi Cyriaz,

Whereabouts are you? Perhaps some kind sole might be able to find a fan here in the UK, and send it out to you.

It depends what engine you have as to what radiator fan set up you have. Some will have radiator thermostat switched fans and others have fans switched on by the ECU.

When you say "I found the problem is with the radiator fan" could it be the radiator thermostat switch not functioning? Does the fan work if you jump the radiator fan switch if you have one?

Its Brava SX 2001 Model 1.6. The Radiator fan does not work at all and there is no hope of fixing it, So I am planning to use any other fan of any other car ( not brava), Any idea which car's radiator fan is best suit?

Not a clue as most will take one off a scrapped Bravo. If you don't have access to a scrapyard where are you going to get a fan from a different car?

Older Bravos here are finishing their useful life why don't you ask if someone has one and can send it to you?

Look here too for someone breaking up a Bravo

can i use a fan from any other car. Like Toyota or Kia? Which one do u suggest?

you still havent told us where you are?
you can use a fan from pretty much any car but it wont be a straight fit!
best bet is to measure the dimensions of the fan and compare it to ones in the scrappy.also look at whether you can seperate the motor from the mounting frame on the brava one and mount a replacement motor in there

I am in Sharjah (UAE) if you have heard about it. Bcz its a hot climate country Brava is not much seen here, So will be difficult to find it in scrap. A mechanic said that I can give a try with "Kia" cars fan. Also, if there is any other tip for over heating you can suggest me as well.

Hey! I used to fly into Sharjah all the time when I was in Oman in 1971

Well I'd just buy one of those add on mod kit radiator fans you can buy from any car modders shop and you could wire it to be on all the time with your kind of temperatures but they usually come with their own adjustable thermostat

As Custard Boy says, a fan from any different car is going to have to be modifed by you before it will fit so you might as well go for a new one that is designed to fit most cars. It'll probably come with adjustable brackets for an easy fit
Kenlowe use to be the favourite see here

We have one here on Ebay UK

Thats great to know you were in Sharjah :)

I did not much understand about kenlowe fans, but the one in Ebay looks fine, but is it meant for Brava ( Fiat Brava SX 2001 Model)?. If so i think we should contact him to ask the price for its shipping it to UAE.

I appreciate your support :)

Also I am looking for the timing belt kit (Fiat Brava sx 2001 1.6), that includes belt, bearing and (im not sure about the name). Can you give me an idea how much is its price in UK including its shipping to UAE.

Hi
The only fan that's meant for a Brava is a Brava fan of course but the one on Ebay is a typical universal ie fit all cars type fan and will come with the connectors and plastic clips to fit almost any kind of car radiator. It has it's own adjustable thermostat so you can control just when the fan comes on. It'll come with full instructions on how to fit it.

I've sent the Ebay seller a message asking for shipping costs for you. He sells lots of different size fans so can you measure the diameter of your existing fan and let me know? Then we can ask him for the exact price and shipping costs

Regarding your timing belt and tensioner (that's the bearing) kit then they're about £50 but the bearing is quite heavy so will cost a bit to send to UAE.

While you have all that dismantled it's usually a good idea to change the water pump too otherwise you only have to do it all again when the water pump goes wrong but that's up to you. Mine went at 70k miles

For the timing belt kit ( 3 parts ) what could be the cost to ship to UAE? also, for the fan mentioned in Ebay, can it really cool down my car in this hot wheather of sharjah?. Well, regarding the water pump is it necessary to change it, mine is now over 120k Km. If so, what could be its price and shipping cost..

The dealers cost too much for fiat spare parts.. u know that.
