Hi,

I've owned my bravo for almost a year now and I'm almost into my 3rd service, this time I wish to replace my fuel filter as I don't know when it was last replaced (if ever), I just need to know which one to get. I've been looking at this one on ebay Fuel Filter and I'm not sure if it fits or not. Also is it easy enough for the average guy to do or is it something that only a specialist can do?

regards,

First of all, you haven't stated which year your car is and which engine you have, i happen to remember, so, i can tell you that there is an easy compatibility guide on the ebay web page, it states that the filter is not compatible, do a search for an online motor factors for your country, like mister-auto.ie or Oscaro.fr or halfords.co.uk etc.
or select one of the filters here and search through google

as for changing it, it's very simple, as easy as the oil filter, it's bang in the middle of the bulkhead, next to the power steering fluid, it should just unscrew.

car is a 1.9td 75s registered in 1999, do you know if the fuel filter is the same as the td100? as the eper no is different

i don't know for sure, but i would very much doubt that there is any difference between the td75 and td100 fuel filter, as seems to be suggested by the eper.

one uncertainty i have with the td75, is how you would refil and purge the new filter and fuel lines; on the td100, there is a grenade pump which can be used along with the air bleed screw on the lucas injection pump, but the 75 doesn't have the grenade pump, and has the bosch pump instead.

Ok got it, went to a local dealer and he just gave me one, seems to be that there are two different filters for the same car with the same engine, one pre-1997 and one post-1997, mine is the one that the pipes come in on top not the one with the screw.

So I think I'm able to replace it, looks easy enough, but I'm kind of worried about the bleeding process, anybody has any idea?

It is an old mechaical injection. Just open the fuel line when starting. Option 2: bleedscrew on filter. Option 3: loosen injector line.

Fiat workshop manuals actually state to remove water from filter on every oil change, drain screw on the bottom of filter. And air it with the screw on top.
