Hi all,

I have 1 red key and 2 blue keys for my Brava 115 ELX (99 'T' Reg). The small red light on one of the blue keys comes on when I lock and unlock the car remotely, but the other key doesn't want to work (doesn't function and the red light won't come on) :bang: .

I've swapped the batteries, batteries are good, i checked the button was making contact, it was, then I swapped the printed circuit boards (pcb's) over. This seems to be the problem, as the pcb from the bad key wouldn't work in the good key fob, but the good pcb from the good key would work in the bad key fob.

So, the questions are, is each pcb individual to a car or key, or can I use any pcb? If so, where can I get a pcb for my defunct blue key?

I've heard horror stories concerning Fiat keys, but am hoping they are limited to the red key only, which is fine!

That's the method to reprogram the blue keys to the immobiliser by using the red key. That's not the problem here

If the duff key fob won't work the lock/unlock or even flash with new batteries then the key fob needs to be replaced

So, although the key itself works, the key fob with all the gubbins inside still needs to be replaced? I was afraid that was the case. However, after taking a peek inside, it seems that the plastic fob itself is OK, and the black chip (which I presume is the immobiliser or the recognition chip) is OK, the batteries are OK, its just that PCB! Can't Fiat just relace the PCB? It is the same as the PCB in my other blue key fob!

Thanks for ALL the advice from all members!

Make sure the push button is actually making contact if it's not flashing at all, that's a common fault. Try to make the contacts with it outside the fob case and see if it works.

Sometimes the push button contacts come adrift from the pcb board. With the batteries out, check the continuity of the switch when pressed with a meter set on reisistance.

See if the batteries are making good contact, clean those contacts too. Otherwise I should think it's a total replacement required

sure fiat could provide a pcb but unfortunatly its highly unlikely they would.
Fiat won't or can't provide the PCB, new key costs £45 + VAT. That's if the code is somewhere, can't remember if there was a tag on the red key, but will check tonight (red key is at home; I'm at work). If not, the cost of 3 new keys and the roof mounted unit is £300, so if THAT'S the fix, I'll make do with one red and one blue key!

What a palaver!

Thanks for that (y) ! I'll look at the key tonight. I'm not TOO bothered if it doesn't work, as my wife drives the car, and her key is fine. Just one of those niggly things that we like to fix  !
To make myself feel better, I washed, waxed, T-Cut, touched up, polished and detailed the car on Saturday, and it looks like new :D !

Well, at long last I've managed to trace another blue remote key (from Ebay)!:D

I've swapped the PCB from the good key to my blue key, the button works, the red light flashes, but the kep doesn't open the central locking remotely!

Now, is it simply that the blue key needs to be reprogrammed? Not sure why this would be, but am (desperately) hoping that it might be due to the fact that the key has not been used for such a long time, that it might need reprogramming.

Problem is, I'm STILL waiting for my Brava handbook from Fiat (3 weeks now, still no call)!(n)

Can anyone shed some light on this?
