Hi everyone

I wonder if anyone could give me some advice before I go to the garage on monday, just don't want to look like a girly with a car who hasn't a clue how to make it work or fix it (this may be true but, u know!)

Okay, had car since March. W Reg, pretty good nick 61k on the clock.

Problems so far are:-

Ignition. Sometimes I have to have a few attempts at putting the key in before the light goes off and it allows me to start. Any ideas?

Pulling Away. When I pull away I have to leave the clutch in quite a bit in first gear when the car is cold. Is this normal? Otherwise I jump like a kangaroo along the road. It runs fine otherwise.

Brake Warning Light. This came on about a month ago so I topped up the brake fluid. Unfortunately it has come back to haunt me, albeit intermittently. Any ideas?

Indicators. They just won't stay put! Click off when I turn the other way. Its just so annoying.

Squeak. Have a squeak when I turn steering wheel. Its coming from inside the car somewhere but dunno where. Wierd. Could this be related to the brakes?

My car now sounds like a wreck. Its not. It goes well to be honest. And I just love the amount of room I have (was an owner of a Citroen AX previously) and the dog loves the boot too.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

:)

ok. which colour key are you using.if red, stop now.dont use it at all.if blue, maybe needs a re-programme.see your handbook.clutch is dragging slightly cold.but most cars need the clutch pedal depressed fully anyway for clean changes.brake light, is possible rubbing of brake wear indicator wire rubbing on the inner wing at the front.needs looking at.indicators seem to be working ok.thats what they do if you turn the other way.they self cancel.squeak can be silenced by some silicone spray around the steering column and steering wheel rear where it locates on the column.hope this helps.

Thank you for your valuable information, it is really appreciated. I didn't explain about the indicators fully. I put it on to turn right, as soon as I start to turn right it goes off, not when I have completed the manouvre, so i have to fight with the switch to get it back on as it dosen't like doing that very much!

Thanks again though. Being a lass with a car is a terrible thing at the best of times but a one that starts to go wrong needs a man with knowledge about.

If you've been starting it with the blue key, try the red key, that's what it's there for :) I have the same problem, car is very jumpy when cold and it's showing now winter is here again - a service usually helps though (has it just had one at 61k or are you due one now?).

Yeah, my Bravo does the kangaroo hop when its cold, it does sort itself out after a few minutes though...I think its normal, you could just wait for it to warm up a minute or 2 b4 you set off...but who has time for that. :)

There is a loop of wire around the ignoition barrel - the reciever for the transponder in your key. Perhaps this has slipped down the barrel too far away your key.
