Hey guys, I wanted to know if the red key also acts as a normal key: I mean, in case of an immergency where I lost my blue key, or locked it inside the car or anything (God forbids!) can I use the red key to open and drive the car normally as with the blue key? Or will this change some settings in the car or resets the ECU or something?
Thanxagain guys.

You're on the right track. Yes the red key can be used to drive the car in an emergency but it is the programming key so it opens up the ECU in order to program the blue keys. So it's not advisable to drive around using the red key all the time but I've never experienced a problem when I've used it. It won't reset the ECU engine data

Hi there, This is interesting, as my wife has been driving around in her 1.4SX Bravo with the red key for the last 3 years! We do have a blue key, but the 'loop' end broke off, so she couldn't keep it on her keyset (its been in the drawer for the last 3 years!). It does raise an interesting question; Would using the red key all the time affect the acceleration? I always thought the car a little slow, except when I was driving it (I used to just use the blue key; I didn't mind putting it in my pocket). I'm serious here, my wife isn't a slow driver!

Thaxalot guys for your replies, very happy to be part of this forum....
Keep sharing with us your thoughts about using the red key please
thanxall.

No harm in using the red key unless you damage it. Always best to keep it in a safe place just incase you damage your blue ones. Can get new blue ones with a red one - but cant replace the red one at all

Hi there,

My experience is differing from the rest of yous but i may be wrong! I used the red key for 3 weeks after i lost my blue key, this led to the code light coming on and my car not starting??? I was told that by using the red key i had opened up the ecu to being reprogrammed and my key was no longer recognised. I had to get a new ecu etc! Just thought if mention it!

Thank you

Best thing to do is top have your red key cloned as you then have a back up if there is ever a problem with the main red key. First thing I did when my father got a Brava was to clone the key and he has the main one and I keep the back up at my house.

Well there you go. Using the red key is a bit like going into the bios settings of your computer every time you turn it on. OK as long as nothing happens while you're doing it and you manage to "Save and exit" in the same state as when you went in. There's a reason why the manual tells you to not use the red key apart from programming ECU to keys

How can I get another blue key from my red key?

You must have key cutters in Lebanon, ask if they can do them
We sure do have key cutters here.... I'll ask'em but one question: Do I take the Blue key or the Red key to have it cloned?
