Please can anyone tell me if my Brava 99 100SX (16V manual) has ABS or not?
How can I make sure?
Thanxall.

I think that it doesn't check out Boo web site

In the model discriptor table (half way down or so) it only shows the HLX as having antilock brakes.

But hey if they haven't put them on i wouldn't worry
or
it was a cost cutting excersise

either way you probably have the experience to help u in a situation where they are necissary - or you can learn them on an advanced course's skid pan.

So chill :)

Best check with the previous owner - ABS was available as an option apparantly

Thanxall guys for your help.... Will focus on the dashboard in the morning as I start my car :)

Or fine a straight QUITE peice of road get up to 20 mph and slam the brakes on, if the wheels lock up, then no you havent, if they dont and the pedal move up and down and you get a load clanking sound then you have.

This is worth doing anyway as you need to now what it feels like otherwise when you first brake with ABS you may not know what is happening and lift off etc. Also worth doing if you car has ABS anyway to check it works when you buy a new car.

just make sure it is

1. QUITE country road
2. Wide
3. Good surface
4. Away from peoples homes

dont complain if the car ends up in a ditch ;-)

Thanx mate for the tip :)
I don't think I have ABS cos no ABS light lights up on the dashbboard when I start the car :(

Ride Drive Brakes
That's pretty clever article man..... I think this man has a point. What do you people think? Share your thoughts.
Thanxalot.

I think it makes a lot of sense, and is probobally true.

For your Grandmother.

Spirited driving can demand too much from the average set of brakes, finding your brakes have faded can be deadly.

The automotive industry spends millions on research and development to make sure that the car you buy is fitted with components that are appropriate for the vehicle upon which they are used and that will perform within an accepted standard. That includes brakes and under road driving conditions the standard equipment, providing it is well maintained, will not produce any less braking efficiency than the after-market add-ons.

So once you improve the cars performance, its grip, its speed, acceleration, drive it more than averagely or exceed mediocrity in any form, theres a danger your average brakes are no longer sufficiant.
