Hi all,

New to the forum, and as many others have done, am introducing myself with a problem; my rear wiper motor is clicking whenever I turn the ignition on! The wiper still works, so I guess it is a solenoid problem, as when I hit the motor with my hammer, it stops temporarily.

Anyone know of an easy fix for this? If not, is it the solenoid or the motor that needs replacing, if so, any clues as to where I can get one cheap? Apart from a scrap yard! Any idea how much Fiat would charge me for one?

Looks like its an easy removal/fit.

By the way, the car is a Bravo 1.4SX, 1998, in Ink Black.

Cheers all!

Hello and welcome and congratulations on your purchase :)

The rear wiper motors are known for this, sometimes they recover, sometimes they don't and need replacing. First things to check are the boot contacts inside the boot, these can get mucky and cause problems so worth a clean. It's also very easy to get the interior off (just play hunt the screws - there are more than Haynes suggests) and have a look at the wiper motor - again sometimes the plug can come loose or the water pipe can come off, causing a shorting. If after all of this it's still not working then yes, new motor time. I got a working one from the scrappy for a tenner but you can get them from Fiat, think they're closer to £50 from there though.
