We have recently purchased a fiat automatic R reg 1.6 Brava .After a recent long journey
the warning light indicating a fault in the gear box came on when the car was started.Switching it on and off the light has now gone off and since then about two weeks ago the fault light has not reappeared.Should we carry on as normal or get this checked? ,the car had little use having done only approx 800 miles in a year and was standing for long periods.Does the gearbox fluid need changing?is that was caused the problem after the long journey. The manual seems to indicate this.any help would be most appreciated.

thanks

Jane

Hi welcome to fiat forum.
you could have had moisture in the box from it not being run very often this may have now evaperated, if it was my car i would check the fluid level when its hot, manual should tell you how to do this, it it was ok i would change the fluid as its cheep and about the only thing you can do.

Thank you Dave for your comments ,thats a real help and a relief.yes and its great to find a forum with useful comments covering all aspects will certainly check regulary.

Thanks again
