Hello peeps new here. Just recently purchased a second hand Fiat Brava 1.4s 12v. The petrol cap is locked on and no amount of key turning is going to move it. Have only half a tank of petrol left, there is a Fiat dealer very close by. But i reakon they will tell me it needs shipped back to Italy for this one. :D Anybody have any ideas is there a special way of turning the key or something...:I

Usually you hold the outer and turn the key, otherwise it just spins round.

Thanks for the post. At least 3 diffrent peeps have tried it with no luck. I think it is well and truly siezed in the locking mechanism. No movement what so ever in the key. Going to try the dealer first, if no joy its a trip to the Fiat garage to see if they have any luck there. Surley this can be sorted with out much cost.B)

Screwdriver and a hammer. Lock off in under a minute. Probably just get another cap from Halfords as i do not want to pay over the odds for a cap from fiat.;)[8D]

theres no need for that. its possibly the most retarded fuel cap ever but il try and explain how it works....put your key in the slot, hold onto the fuel cap and turn your key clockwise then turn the cap anit-clockwise then turn it clockwise. it goes something like that!!

Much respect to the dude that invented the wheel!!

Otherwise known as stick they key in and wiggle both the key and petrol cap around until it opens, then do the same to lock it again. I was most embarassed the first time I went to get petrol and couldn't get the damn thing open.

They have lots of weird and wonderful bits these Fiats THAT DON'T MAKE MUCH SENSE!

This happened to me when a got my bravo 1.4sx. Driving home from the garage i got it from and the petrol light came on. The tight c**ts didnt even put any petrol in for me. Anyway after struggling with it a dude with a Brava came in and he sorted it for is. The key unlocks to the back of the car then you need to push hard against the cap and turn it to the back of the car at the same time. Sorted;)

Too Late Hammer and screwdriver worked fine.:I Had booked a weekend away so had no time and very little petrol left. Tried all that was suggested still no joy. Garage i bought it from have sent away for a new cap, for free so alls well that ends well. Cheers for all the help:D
