I have a 1.6 Bravo and sometimes find that selecting 5th gear can be much more difficult than the other gears....like it doesnt want to go in.....anyone else had this or similar or is it just me ;-)

coming down into 2nd for me, which can be a bit of a scare coming into junctions.
Fiat Tecs had a look and said in an all knowing voice, "gearbox is shaged" apparantly its the syncro hub, remindy "get a nu box mate"
I some times find though if I press my clutch down as far as it can go + a bit more if you know what I mean [into the carpet] it goes in quite smoothly.
maybe some investigation into the clutch/presure plate

This sounds like the gear selector has had it!

It is not an expensive fix if this turns out to be the case!

i have a 1.6 bravo i only find this problem with reverse gear. When it happens i release the clutch and then press it again then it works.
