Hi everyone. I have some troubles with my fiat bravo 1.4 12v '95 model. To be more accurate, i have some troubles with the cylinder head because my car runs on lpg for many years.
I want to change the engine, the same type , 1.4 12v but in my country fiat bravo is not such a popular car because it is a coupe..so , it is hard for me to find an engine in the scrap yard.

So , my question is :
The engine from fiat brava or fiat bravo but a newer model..let's say...years '97 '99 , it is compatible with my '95 model ? the fiat brava and bravo has different engine codes..but they are 1.4 12v both. So..this engine swap is possible ? ..i just want to change the engine..not the ecu or the entire wiring system. Can i "plug and play" the new engine without any modifications?

You can use the engine from any 1.4 12V Fiat, which of course means the 3-door Bravo and the 5-door Brava.

But in any country the problem now will be to find a useable engine after maybe 19 years... The 1.4 was a popular choice at first but after 10 years many owners had problems with lubrication to the cylinder head and so many cars failed and were scrapped.

You can look for another engine but it will almost certainly need some work, maybe you can combine two and make one good engine...

In any case you need to find a good mechanic to make the repairs because an exchange will not be so simple when you consider the age of the car.

well..i am the mechanic..i always do all the work on my car .With a little help from youtube/forums i can repair even a plane. :D . I just wanted to know if the engines are compatible to swap between bravo and brava. And , yes , probably i will combine my engine with the "new" one to make a better one. I already found two possible choices , one is from brava '97 and the other one brava '98 (150-200 euro). From pictures , i observed that these 2 engines has some modifications on the "oil ramp" ( the thing that spreads oil to the cam shaft).
