this switch/sensor failed and all the fluid got pumped out :mad:
new ones are £55 :eek:
are there any cheaper ones from another model that will fit or can i blank off that hole somehow ?

also how much new fluid will i need to buy to refill it from empty?

well for anyone else that has this happen to them......

i used chemical metal to fill/plug the pressure switch. refitted and topped up the fluid and i have no leaks and it seems to work fine (y)

I know it's an old post but I had the same problem and came to this thread through google and wanted to share my experience with any other googlers who have the same problem

I took the above advice and filled the switch with epoxy weld which is very strong epoxy glue basically. I drove for a while (15 mins) and everything was fine. I was just about to high five myself and put the car into reverse. When I got out of the car I found a nice trail of steering fluid from where I put it into reverse. Basically where the sides of the switch are smooth there was nothing for the epoxy to grip to so it slid out as the pressure is quite high

Solution: Remove the switch (place a bowl or something underneath first to catch the fluid). On the underside of the switch the hole where the fluid was leaking is threaded. A bit of threadlock and a grub screw and it's been fine since. IF you don't have a grub screw then a small bolt or something should be fine as long as you can fit the head into the opening when you replace the switch. If not you can cut it off

As with all high pressure systems you want to plug from the inside and this is the most important part here. How you plug it is not that important as long as you do it from the right end. Just filling the switch with xyz plugging material will not work
