Hi,

I need to change the timing belt on my Bravo 1.9JTD HLX and need this tool.

My local Fiat dealer EMG in Cambridge want an eye watering £36 for it before they order it when it is basically a large spanner with holes in it to line up the pulleys in TDC. Does any one have one to sell or know where I can buy one at a considerably lower price? I am feeling I need it in case any pulley moves between taking the old belt off and putting the replacement on.

The diesel pump pulley has some holes in to put bolts to lock it. Any idea what size these are?

I have a replacement Gates belt, tensioner and idler bearings. Will change the water pump as well.

Any advice gratefully received.

Regards,

Alex

hi,

no idea on the specific tool, ebay may be a good start..!!

do a search - as that engine has been used in @ 50 % of last 12 years fiat cars + vans,

( when we got ours back from a botched garage change, we just carefully marked everything and re-did it ourselves..),

Well I guess I could check out Fleabay, although with car parts amongst other items I've had too many bad experiences and won't buy anything from there again, but thanks for the reply. I think I'll just have to stump up the £36 and get it ordered although it pains me so much as I know the main dealer is ripping me off BIG TIME. It's probably only costs them £4 to buy and the cost to manufacture less than a quid. But the damage a snapped cam belt can cause is catastrophic - new engine time.

Thanks again,
