Afternoon all,
the trusty family Bravo sadly failed its mot last week, whilst all on minorly annoying bits, an advisory was the cooling fan not working,
So, much searching on here and that google place and ive been round and checked as much as i can, The fuse in the top right tray is fine, the Wiring is fine as if i remove the relay and bridge the large connecters and the fan Fires up at Maximum speed,
Now, plugging the relay back in you get the audible click and after about 5-10 seconds the Fan fires upon normal speed for approx 5 seconds and spins down,
ive pulled the plug off the fan with everything else inplace and reads over 12v through on the multimeter when on the positive terminal and earthed on the battery,
the small plug thing on the bottom corner of the fan housing (drivers side, i kinda instinctively called it the Rheostat?? when talking to the wife about it ) ive popped out and cleaned up a bit, the lower side of it that has the black wire (top side is blue wire, both wires run around the bottom of the fan and up and join into the fan loom,) was blue furry colour as you'd get with a bit of spilt coolant, cleaned all that up, and soldered ona new clean wire picked up at breakers yard, but the inside of this bit was dark browny coloured on the lower side where the furring was, cleaned it a little but was careful due to the small bits or metal that wrap around it,

i bled the system of air through the two bleed valves behind the engine, quite a lot of air came out, run up again and still no fan.

the only thing i havent checked over is the thermostat,

what have i missed or what/where do i need to look to get it working properly???

many thanks in advance for your time reading through this,

Timmo.

Not that I've been able to find! The only wires are the ones to the fan and the bit down the bottom of the rad, held in by 2+ head screws,
A few places said its on the head by the thermo but I've looked at all the cooling pipes I can and can't see what I know as a coolant senser!
A couple of searches on ecp and gsf show what I know as one but I can't find it on there Awywhere!

after a bit more searching it seems most likely to be the Resistor on the bottom corner of the rad,
no7 on here

so will get one ordered and then have a happy missus again! haha!

after a few phone calls to the local Fiat and alfa garages it appears that the prices have Over doubled since most fiat forums on the net have needed one! the resistors now seek £53 all in!!
will try our luck with one on ebay for around £20 ish i think!!
