Technical windscreen washers dont work

Christ man calm! 4 messages expecting a reply in 4 minutes?

More info needed:

Do you hear the pump/motor when pulling the stalk back for the washers?

Heating - is the fan moving or is it just heat you aint getting. Have you tried different settings on the heater controls?

if ur washer pump is workin, b aware of the non return, y shaped valve, under the bonnet sound deadening. it usually blows a hole in the diaphram in it and so the water travelles straight out it. quick fix it to split it and glue hole up or screw small self tapping screw in it. this fault appears on most fiats

as for heating, fuses have been know to blow. check in the fuses box which is below and to the right of the steerin wheel

Only a newbie, but maybe this will help?

Best thing is to check your fuses.
The fuse for the wiper motor is also used for the rear wiper motor and water spray pump. So if none of them are working, its simply the fuse has blown. Its a 20amp blade fuse in mine, but check yours.

If the heating aint working, then check that you have enough water in the radiator. Be sure to do this when the engine is cold!!
If the water level drops too low the first thing to go is the heating! Top it up, dont overfill, if needed, and keep an eye on it. If it drops again then you have a leak in your cooling system (check the water pump as mine leaked there).

Cheers.

dhillons,
More info will definitely help to isolate the possibilities.

Here are some more things to check in addition to those already mentioned by other members above...(if you haven't sorted the problem already)

Whats been done to the car since the last time the washer & heating worked ? E.g. recent repairs/maintenance in the engine bay area, in particularly coolant change, engine bay cleaning, anything which may have dislodged wiring in the engine area.

No Heating:
As Wimmy said, can you hear the heater fan turning?
Even if you turn the heating temp to maximum, you will need to warm the car up to get any heating. If coolant has just been changed, was the coolant system properly bled (no trapped air).

Windscreen washers:
As Wimmy and mrmac250 said : Check if all wipers (front & rear) work and if you can hear the washer pump trying to squirt water to the windscreen ? I assume that when you say "dead", it means you do not hear the washer pump motor at all ?

If everything works but you just don't get any screen wash being squirt out, then trace the screen wash hoses from the washer bottle/pump to the washer jets to check for blocked hose and in particular the non-return Y-valve, as this can get blocked (as Blitz79 said will "...blow the diaphram"). You can tell this, because everywhere around this blocked valve will be wet with screen wash. You can get a replacement.

If wipers don't work either, then likely to be fuse (think it's the same fuse for the washer pump).

If wipers work but just not the washer pump:
1) Check connector at the pump is good (not rusty) and hasn't come loose.
2) Check connector is dry (e.g. no flooded with coolant (from a coolant changed), or even just from overfilling windscreen bottle).
3) If the connector is in good condition and completely dry, then get a voltmeter and see if +12V is getting thru to the end of the connector (disconnect off washer pump and just measure at the connector end).
a) If there is +12V, then I think washer pump is knackered.
b) If no +12V, then you need to start chasing the wiring from the steering wheel windscreen switch right thru to the washer pump, to check where the circuit is broken. Gets a bit arkward now due to a lot of messy wiring behind the steering wheel to engine bay. Check to see if anything has come loose, any wire(s) cut/crunched and generally, wiring in the engine bay are dry (not wet/damp)...basically ensure no shorting of wires which carry power to the electrical bits of kit.

Good Luck ;)
