When the car reaches approx. 4500 revs there is a horrible mettalic noise from under the car. It then goes as you go quicker, but as soon as you change gear and hit that rev limit the noise returns. From listening I am pretty sure it is the heat shield.

Can you have just the heat shield repaired/replaced or does this mean a new cat?

If so any idea on costs etc.
