Hi all

I have a Fiat Brava formula 80 SX, which I have had for 3 years now. The blue keyfob I have has never operated the remote central locking since I got it, I did try replacing the battery but that didn't work either. I contacted my local Fiat dealership who told me it would cost me about £240 to get a new working key, that was 2 and a half years ago, so I guess it would be a lot more now!

Is there an alternative way to do this without going through the dealer? I was hoping someone might be able to help me out with this as I don't know where to start and want to get it sorted if I can but not at over £200. I love my Brava and have slowly been getting all the niggles sorted over the last 3 years I have had it and this remains the one thing left to get sorted.

Hi Tony

No the light doesn't flash, it looks as though at some point the fob has been damaged as it doesn't fit together tightly, it's a bit loose. It operates the central locking by using the key in the lock and obviously it starts the engine but that's it. I think something must be broken inside the key or something like that. I just can't afford to pay silly dealer prices for the convenience of being able to remotely lock it, but if I can do it reasonably that's fine.

I've got the same car, my big blue key worked remotely but stopped a couple of years ago... I wasn't bothered but it is an item on the list to fix.

It's probably the battery so I'll try that first, fingers crossed.

Ok, if the key does not flash and you cant get it going you need to get the receiver dump and calculate the key unlock code from that. You also need to get another remote key s/h from ebay that does work, then load in the working key with the unlock code previously recovered.

The button had come loose on one of my keys, one contact had broken away from the solder, i just re-soldered it. Worth a look

Check the price one more time, two years ago I got one from FIAT in Paris, it was plus/minus 50€ including remote and yellow radio relay...
I hope we're talking about same thing, that's the keyfob, right?!
Mine eng is different

Anyway, my HGT doesn't have a slot for that relay so I sent it back home for 1.6 16V - works fine, but no light indications for locking/unlocking...

I think duledxb is suggesting a Meta M20 remote locking relay as an alternative. Im looking for one as a backup aswell. Very hard to find these days.
