 Hi all.

Is it vitally important to buy a BRAVA with the red/burgundy colour master key?

Whats does the red master key control?

What extra features does it has that the two other blue slave keys have not got?

I'm asking the question because I plan on buying a Y reg fiat brava , which ony has a blue key!. A point to note is that this is from a Fiat francise dealer. They say that they can code a new blue key. If they can do this is it vitally important for me to have the original red key. Should I request that at least £600 be removed from the list price, because of the abscence of the red key.

Car detail, late year 2000, 17k, sx 12, asking price £3495

thanks in advance

If it is on a Y plate the car won't have been supplied with a red key. It will be on the phase 2 immoboliser system which does not require a redkey. As long as you have got a spare blue key you'll be fine. Timpson's can make copies of the blue keys (it was £20 when i had a copy made not long ago).

Hope this helps

PS surely the fiat dealer should know this information?

A Red key came with my July Y plate Brava :)

I have to add though, if you have any arnold clark Fiat's in your area. They are doing 51 plate models for £3700

you have bean told right you must have a red key .so down to why it is for coding new keys mainly but you can get new keys to work that are cloned to your own blue key i dont like this personaly but it will get you out of a fix

are you sure they can do 2nd gen ones now? they never used to!

Bought my P reg Brava from an independant garage in Scotland, only came with 1 Blue key, got a copy made, had no problems with either of them!

Have a look on the key.

Just at the end of the cut piece there is a double circle with a triangle sticking out of it. If it has a number 2 above it, it is a code 2 system and there is NO red key.

No number 2 however and it is system 1. The red key is needed to reprogramme the blue keys (and ECU i think) should there be an ECU problem.
You MIGHT never need it, but at £800-1000 for a new ECU it could prove to be an expensive "MIGHT".
