Apologies for my French but some c**t tried breaking in to my 99Bravo last night, looks like he didn't know what he/they were doing all they have done is stuck a screw driver in the lock and never got inside, but they have made a complete mess of it, I can stick the key in, but can't turn it.

Spoke to an auto lock repair place, they said it's likely a dealer jobby, phoned FIAT themselves, gave them the ZFA number. The fella rung me back saying it was bad news, they couldn't get a hold of a new barrel so the only option was to get an old system from them, including ignition and have an entire new system put in, to which even he admitted would be a bloody expensive job.

I do have another lock from another door (With no key) would this help in any way? and does anyone know if there are any other options for me? Obviously I want the cheapest option, but if I have to have that done then there isn't much I can do. I'd hate it if I had to have another key for that door and then another for the ignition.

Replies really would be great on this one please members, any sort of advice. For the record I didn't have a stereo in there or anything they could of stole. Did however have a pair of Boss jeans and a rather expensive tyre in the boot lol.

Some cunf did that to me too :mad:

You can use an old barrell, take out the barrell put your key in and grind the tumblers to your key. Replace in the lock and it should work perfect. Ive done it to my boot, 2 different keys open the boot and nothing else (y)

Heres a guide on handles and locks

Thank you, that's actually, if I can get it to work really really really helpfull since I already have a lock in the house.

I was thinking about getting a RC locking system and de-locking the car, we have a lot of car crime around here and unfortunately this time my car copped it. It's put my mind at ease ever so slightly knowing it may be difficult to get in to, as a foot note, are these cars difficult to break in to, not following the bad crowd when I was younger means I don't know much about breaking in to cars lol, however if I do see them round the car they will meet the bad end of one of my golf clubs.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your car :( Was he trying to steal something in your car or your car?

Anyway see this link it will help you understand how to get the lock barrel off and work on it. You can grind the pins down or buy another barrel from a scrap yard for donor pins.

This might help with removing the handle;

and this aswell;

When you get it all apart have a look at the locking rod incase its bent/broken.

There's nothing in the car they could steal, I'm really wierd and hate having things lying around inside the car, even my glove box is empty lol. Like I said above I had a pair of quite expensive jeans in the boot, and an equally expensive tyre that's getting fitted soon, but they obviously didn't know that. Apparently lately they have been stealing cars to use for other jobs so,if anything happens, then all the police are coming to my house 'cos it's my car like.

Thanks for the guides though, will get them read through and see if I can sort something out :)

Update on this.

According to a fella down at work, there are... I think 5 pins in the barrel, so, I'm thinking seen as though Adrian dropped the link showing how to take the barrel apart, with the spare lock I have, would I be able to slide the pins out of my lock, and the spare lock, and re-arrange them so they're in the order that works?...apologies if that didn't make much sense.
