Hi I recently bought my first bravo the other day! (orange 1.6 HLX) and need some help with a few things...

the left side windscreen washer jet doesn't work but the right one does? i have looked to see if it connected under the bonnet and it looks asif there are no blockages.. any ideas?

another is when i use the washer jets the wiper blades don't come on, i have to put them on, its this right? all the other cars i hav had has done it automatically?

The rear washer doesn't work but the wiper does? i have looked at threads saying the pipe could have disconnected but i haven't had a chance to look yet, but no signs of dampness...

Boot lock seems seized completely, key wont turn in it (maybe this has something to do with a leak from the rear washer?) is this an easy repair?

I have a aftermarket alpine cd player installed but i need to remove it to plug the USB iphone cable in the back, do i have to disconnect the battery? i really scared that if i do this i will have to get keys programmed again etc.. have two blue keys and the previous owner is sending the red in the post!

thanks for any help you can give me on any of these! hope to be a regular here for a long time :)

Hi only thing i can help with is the rear washer. Theres a guide on the fiat boo website. Mine was the same and i followed the guide and now i have a nice clean rear window! Its nice to be able to see now!

I also have the seized boot lock its a bit annoying. Would like to find out how to sort that aswell!

Thanks for the reply, got a day off tomorrow so i will be giving it a good wash, de-badging the faded badges, fitting new speakers and sorting out the iphone connector, cleaning the interior and alot more lol  il have a look at the lock barrel see if it can be fixed, il let you know how i get on!

rear boot lock, spray grease it and keep putting your key in/out loads, then keep trying to turn eventually it will work. keep going till its smooth (dont use wd40, use spray grease)

rear washer, mine had no leak but didnt spray, it was the little one way valve under the bonnet behind the fuse's near the passanger suspension top mount, replaced that and it works fine!.

front wipers should work with the spray.

remove the battery and you wont loose the key code, also for messing with the stereo TBH i never remove the battery anyways, as its a pretty safe thing but if you want to be sure dont worry about your codes going missing.

spray only working on one side?. mine sprays only the driver the first time i pull it and when i release and engage it again it does the passanger only, i know they both SHOULD work togeather but mine dont and i CANT work out why. mabee try renewing all the one way valves (little black circles with a triangle on it) with new ones as i am going to, should fix everything as they are the only things that can go faulty (get stuck open/closed)

Gave the car a really good wash and wax today and debadged it! I don't think the previous owners had ever done it, tar spots (i think) everywhere

Took the head unit out and threaded the ipod lead through only to find that it was not the right connector on the back! grrr  had to go out and buy the correct one! £29

Took the cover thingy off the back of the boot to see if the washer pipe had come loose but it hadn't! looks as if i do need a new valve! next on the list is new door handles.. ebay prices are crazy have to have a hunt around the scrap yards

Thanks! had a look at it was gonna put some spray grease in it but couldn't find it :(

Hi

There's some suggestions of mine below. Hope it helps

It could be blocked, otherwise if you remove the the bonnet liner you will see a 'T' with one hose connecting to the washer and the other one continuing to other (non-working) jet. That 'T' has a diaphragm that must be knackered. Replace the T and you will have both jets working.

another is when i use the washer jets the wiper blades don't come on, i have to put them on, its this right? all the other cars i hav had has done it automatically?
That's the way it does :).

As it has been suggested, there's a good guide on the BOO. I also found out that the hose may split nearby the hinges. That's what happened to mine. Don't remember exactly how to remove the gaiter rubber, but it must be a simple job because I did it :).

thanks for the replies :)

i took a very very small part of the bonnet liner off just to see if it had come off didnt really get a chance to take it completely off due to it getting dark! another job for tomorrow ;)

really love the car for the amount of money i paid and its nice to have power steering!

Front washer jets are a common problem, you can pop them out quite easily and soak them in warm soapy water then carefully clear the holes with some fine wire. But new ones from Fiat are dead cheap anyway.

did exactly that this morning, along with cleaning all the shuts. i now have two working jets (y) next on the list is to get the marea front lights and new bulbs all round and some tax
