Here is my set up:
Car: 1998 Marea 1.6 Automatic
Cable #1: VAG-COM from eBay (worked fine on my Skoda)
Cable #2: Fiat 3-pin from eBay
Software #1: Tried FES but even after messing with COM ports for hours, won't connect. ('No ECU Response.')
Software #2: Tried UniDiag kwp2000, but got: 'External Exception EEFACE', or 'Cannot create file: C;/Documents...'

Some forums suggest that I need kwp 71 (not 2000) b/c of my car being a 1998. Fine. But I cannot find any source for this download except Sander QV's autos.yahoo....and I'm still waiting for registration approval. Q: Does ANYBODY have kwp 71 they can link me to?? Thanks!

are you on windows 7 ive had nothing but trouble with the vag-com... do you have another pc with a older (xp) system you can try it on if you are on 7....

Thanks Clock34! I downloaded kwp71 and I'll give it a try. BTW: I should have mentioned that my O/S is Windows XP (5 year old laptop ).
