Hi all, I have a Bravo 1.6 16v 1999
Just had an auto electrician look at it as the car starts sometimes and then won't.....
Is there any way that you can bypass/immobilse the immobiliser?????
The fault code reading was D600 and that is the key immo fault code.
Any help would be greatly appreciated......

when it wont start does the code light light up? have you tried a spare key?

oh and the only way around the immobiliser is through the ecu its not easy.

Yes, have got the Red key and the blue key (although the red looks a bit brown now)
Anyway, had the ecu reset by the auto tech today and he gave me the faulty code. It starts one minute then not the next. The light stays on either way.
I have been reading that the only way to combat this (which I now believe is a common Bravo prob) is to have either a virgin ecu or to get it changed (along with the locks and ignition)
 
If the engine runs -ever- with the code light on, then its the immobiliser box faulty. Buy a new box and load in all 3 keys, starting with the red key in the normal way and everything will be ok. You must have at least 3 keys and none must be copies of the others.
Another method is to get a good second hand immo and have the data inside changed over from the old box, that costs extra cash though.

I could be mistaken, but I think on the Bravo the Immobilizer is linked via some sort of code to the ECU. Meaning replacing one requires replacing the other as well.
 
Gregovic- every immo is the same, each one has a different eeprom data area. I did state that you would need to change the data over from the old to the new. It takes about 15 mins if you have the knowledge.

Thanks guys, I am now on the look out for a new ecu, locks, etc.... Tried several today to no avail.... will try a few more tomorrow.

Depending on what type keys you have, there may be no need to swap locks, as some of the keys its possible to prise them apart and remove the chip from inside.

So from a donor vehicle, you need the ECU, and if you follow the black transponder ring that sits around the ignition barrel, it will lead to a black comms box which you also need to take from the donor.

I'm fairly sure the transponder rings are all the same, but take it from the donor just in case yours is damaged.

Plug in the ECU, plug in the black comms box and the transponder ring, swap out the chip from the donor vehicle and put it into your key, and that should be all you have to do to get it running.
