Hi, had the car 3 weeks now and its been near constant rain for most of it.

woke up today to a soaking drivers foot well, sunroof is sealing ok and no drips from there. roof lining is also dry, i cant trace it anywhere.

any ideas? i dont mind removing anything to find it as i want to obviously keep it dry.

might take lining off to be sure.

p.s their is no running water sound and it hasnt happened in rain before.

(wind was 818378312mph and HEAVY rain!)

Check the drains just below/in front of the windscreen. If they get clogged water could run into the interior. (Don't use anything metal to unclog them, just use a plastic zip-tie or something)

will give that ago tomorrow, are they clear to see? im pretty sure their was a soggy buiscuit down there somewhere someone had kindly left on my window.

I had a problem with blocked drain tubes, I just blew down them and you could feel the blockage clear.

My sunroof gutter was also pushed down at oneside by a wiring harness clip, I think it was like that from factory. That plus the blockage made mine overflow.

Then I decided the sunroof was more trouble than its worth so I siliconed it shut. When I buy another Bravo It must not have a sunroof :p

Check the scuttle drain as greg says, mine was blocked. In the past some people have had problems with the roof aerial letting in water. I guess you have ruled the heater matrix out. Make sure the big round door harness plugs are ok.

My car is completely dry now. The only problem I get is condensation on the inside of the sunroof glass. I might back the glass with some type of black insulation.

will check all the above on wednesday my day off. its rained HEAVY here alot and its never leaked before just last night.

ill check the door rubbers and the sunroof drains/scuttle. and if all that fails ill leave the lining off for a day see if i can see any drips but im pretty sure the sun roof is sealing ok as im getting no drips or wet lining, no signs of damp or mold either.

I had a similar problem. No leaks on the doors/casings. Sunroof wasn't leaking yet the passenger footwell would be soaking when it rained.Took the grill off below the windscreen wipers but there was hardly any leaves or muck there. It still leaks.

i never did get to the bottom of mine... checked the sunroof with a hose and its defo not leaking, checked behind the panel and around the pollen filter and it all looks ok, just seems to drip out from behind the dash onto the plastic kick trim near the door, not loads tbh but dont know where its from :S

I had this problem when i first bought the car.

cleaned all leaves out to find it still leaked.

I found out it was leaking under the windscreen. the plastic trim that fits on the windscreen doesnt fit flush so the water collect on the metal edge which the windscreen sits on and drips into the car. I packed the gap full of vibration resitant window sealant and havent had a problem since. you could try bending the plastic so it fits flat again aswell.

Hi,
Have a 2000 Brava and had this problem a couple of years ago, drivers footwell full of water when raining. Tested sun roof with hose saw no leak, clean drain holes and replaced sunroof rubber, still not fixed.

Decided to investigate more, removed plastic trim right side in drivers footwell (remove door seal to get access). Behind wires on metal frame was wet, moved futher up and and also found damp behind the drivers trim. Put hand up to feel under the roof liner and low and behold it was damp???

Next removed the roof liner and found damp patch from sunroof to above drivers head on inside of liner, also mould staring to grow nasty...
Also lots of condensation on inside of roof.

Conclusion water coming in sunroof and running along roof liner over driver head and down along column and behind plastis trim to Fill thw footwell". Yip found the problem!!

The solution: Had to remove the whole sunroof chassis from roof (remove bolts) and drop down. You may need two people to remove as it is heavy. There is a procedure here or on the web with pics on how to remove sunroof. Cleaned and dried the sunroof chassis and every place where the sunroof chassis made contact with the roof and used silicone (lots and lots, to be extra sure) to make a water proof seal between the chassis and the roof. Then bolted everything back up and left to dry.

Have had a dry car ever since, perfectly dry feet for the last couple of years...(y)

The problem: Rain especially driving rain forces its way through sunroof seal and does not drop down onto sunroof chasis and flow out the drain holes as it is supposed to. Instead it seeps between the roof and sunroof chasis and along the roof and eventual drops onto the liner and runs along the curved contour toward the drivers column and then down to the footwell.

Some advise, will take a couple of hours to do, so either do it inside a garage or pick a dry day to attempt it. Also may need two people when lowering sunroof chasis. I also put some insulation between the liner and the roof to help prevent future condensation, just me being extra cautious though...

Sorry for being long winded but this solved my problem, hope it is of some help...
Cheers,
Leo. :)

done the same with mine, lining down , dropped sun roof ,loads of sealant,at the corners it seems to be a design fault with them, then bolt back up,all that and you have a dry car !!!!
