How easy/hard are they to take off and put back on?

MOT coming up and my passenger side handle has failed, which is an MOT failure....rather than spend money on new handles and have to fit to both sides(for now), I've managed to get a whole new door in good condition for £30.

needed changing anyway as around the handle was scratched and dented from an attempted break in.

Hoping this is a job i can do myself. Any tips would be welcomed :)

You will have to at least undo the two bolts holding the door handle and get it out a bit to swap your lock barrels, or try and make a working barrel from one or two others. See this for more info;

Ive never taken the door off. The book says undoo the bolts that are in the hinges, both are vertical. bottom one points down and top one points up. That might not be the easiest way though, I really dont know.

Dead easy :D

Undo the 2 10mm bolts in the hinges (the top one is in upside down). Open the door fully, knock out the pin for the check strap with a hammer or vise grips then close the door a wee bit then open full again so the check strap goes in a bit but not fully. Now get the multi plug, twist anticlockwise and remove. Lift door up off hinges. Job done (y)

Thanks M20....i shall give it a go when it arrives :)

Adrian....just gonna leave it as is for now, unless the LOCK has to work too to pass MOT in which case i'll just get my mechanics to do it. Theyre good friends so wont charge much on top.

Ultimately...want to follow your guide and get 500 Handles :)
