I have searched high and low on ebay for a full set of affordable Marea door handles - both front and rear - to replace my rubber Brava ones.
Can anyone please point me to the right direction?

Many thanks in advance for your time.

Get them from a scrapyard, you'll prob pay £5 a piece if you take them off yourself, plus you'll learn how to take them off without damaging your car first time round.

Thanks for your reply. I have also asked that chap in Poland who's on ebay too if he has any such set on offer.

The guy from Poland has a full set of marea handles (x4) at £56ish on ebay. But like I said, goto a scrapyard unless you don't want to get your hand dirty, but then why buy marea handles if you don't want to get your hands dirty. :)

£56 or thereabout for the whole set? Sounds reasonable to me. Dropped him a message and replied only with the cost of shipping. Not the actual cost of the handles themselves. Trouble is, I couldn't find anywhere an ebay item number for this set so I asked him that. Once I get hold of them I'll try to fit them myself. I have no problem whatsoever with getting my hands dirty. It's just that scrapyards here in Greece try to rip you off. :(

Before you spend £56+postage for second hand stuff it might be worth checking the price of new marea handles with your Fiat Dealer. My version of ePER shows them at £21.65+Tax Each. I paid about £33+Tax each for 2007 Fiat 500 handles, which are very good quality but its no easy task to fit them even with past experience.

Thanks for that Adrian but having already done my little research locally, I've found out that original Marea handles cost roughly 45 euro each over here + 23% VAT.
The Fiat 500 handles are just great but the thing is I have a Brava that needs four of them - front and rear. Once I get a quote from that Polish fellow I'll leave a note here as well.

They're not second hand they are brand new.

Have you thought about Alfa 147 handles? The ones I have are actual metal not coated plastic so they will take a few bangs in the car park. Need modification to fit mind you. Got a set from my local scrappy for €20 :)

EDIT: Seen its a Brava, the facelifted 147s have a de-locked door handle on the passengers side depending on the market. The GTA is the same

Not a bad price then since they are new.

Yes, I have actually, and they are of supreme quality too but since they're going to need some modification in order to fit in place I'm somewhat hesitant. Many thanks anyway for the suggestion.

If it is the same guy from Poland I bought a set for my Bravo they where ok actually I expected them to be a bit iffy but when the turned up they where fine, fitted spot on and looked good.

I'm brand newbie today and look forward to speaking to you lot!

I have just bought a W reg Fiat Brava with corroded handles. What do people think is really the best type to replace them? Marea, Brava, 147? Would I be right in thinking colour coded (metallic silver) is going to be a much dearer option? Do the door backs have to come off or are they fit-able from outside the car?

Any pearls would be most welcome.

Thank you.

Welcome to the forums. If you read through all the threads on this forum about the doorhandles you will find all the answers you need.

The 147 handles do fit but leave a gap and do not fit to the door completely correctly. The original Brava handles suck. Even if you fit new ones they will fall apart again within a year. Marea handles are your only real option. They are normally not painted to colour, so you will have to do this yourself. (A few hours work and about 10 pounds in paint and clearcoat) You will have to take the doorcards off, as you will have to fiddle with the mechanism from the inside.

Just bought the 4 handle set from this, it seems quite famous, polish guy. he accepted a best offer of £45 plus £11 delivery. Can someone point me to a guide for replacing the handles diy style. also Im not gonna get them before my m.o.t runs out, what happens legally drivingwise, say to drive it to a testers!

They do look good though and are made of metal

In a nutshell, they are a nightmare to fit. For the locks, dont try put the 2 rods into the handle, its just impossible. Take the mechanism out of the door, take the locking rod off and fit to the handle. Refit the mechanism to the door. Connect the opening rod to the handle and fit handle to the door. Working with a screw driver, push the rod into its position in the mechanism (lots of patience here)

Ill see if I can get pics to show what Im on about as Ive prob explained it badly
