Hi there i have a p reg Brava tdi 100hp and i am having trouble selecting 1st and 2nd gear. No problem with 3rd,4th,5th and reverse. I don't think its clutch drag as the other gears engage so easily. Chief suspect I think is the gear linkage from the gear lever to the gearbox as it feels like it doesn't move over to the left far enough due to wear perhaps.
I was wondering if anybody has had similar problems. Thank you

Used to have similar problems with a Punto 1.2 8v after having the car looked at by a local mechanic as the 1st gear wouldn't engage easily. He somehow messed with the clutch and/or gearbox settings and later found I couldn't use 5th gear at all(!)
Sent the car back to the same garage and after they reversed their settings gear selection was back to normal again.
Strongly suggest you have the clutch and/or gearbox of your car looked at by a competent mechanic a.s.a.p.
