hi i resently had a accident involveing my passenger side door handle n lock (locked keys in car doh ) lol so neways im stuglin to find a replacement for the right price iv rang round local scrappy n they have got no keys wat i was wondering was



if i get i door handle and tumbler (lock) with out the key in theory it shud lock n unlock via the driver door (central locking) but il not be able to unlock or lock via the passenger door which has the new keyless handle but it will look better n will b able to open the door from the outside unlike at the min i have to open it from the inside coz theres no handle at the min.

will this work or not will it be compaterble please help

Im not sure what you mean is broken so I will asume everything is. Get another handle from the scrap yard. Remove the mechanism from the handle by removing the three screws.

You can use your key barrel in the new mechanism or if your barrel is broken you can make the new one work with your key.

Then you should have this;

Turn it over and there is a spring hidden in a grove that holds the barrel;


Remove it and the barrel comes out;


Take the cap off the barrel and pull the retaining pin out;


You can now take all the pins out and rearange them. The aim is to make them flush with the barrel when you insert the key. Fit one at a time and try the key. Ive done two before and the pins supplied rearanged to my key no problem.


Its tricky to refit the barrel cover but it can be done perfectly, I knocked the cover edge back down with a blunt braddle. Be sure to regrease the mechanism.

but because my barrel & handle was no longer usable i jus got whole handle and lock and installind only connecting the bar that connects to the open door part of the lock as the car is central locking i can still lock the car via the drivers door al this means is i am unable to lock the door from the passenger side but to look at ud never no lol n now the door opens from outside as well as from the inside. next job found a bravo 1.6 16v in scrappy same colour wiv spoiler 35 quid for boot lid n spoiler same colour not to bad

get a remote central locking kit then you can open her up with the press of a button! good kits on ebay for £15. ive used one for about 6 months and had no problems once its fitted.
