I know AM sucks but for some reason I cannot pick it up on my radio. standard (i think) screw on arial on the roof and at the moment a standard Bravo radio.

any ideas why the reception is crap and what I can do about it?

cheers guys.

am is fine on my brava.you got a sunroof?check all conections of cable to arial.if fm works ok its a strange 1.water can run past sunroof seals.check that end and end into unit.1 other thing.i do have a prob.getting a local fm station by me.if i use the manual tune it goes past it/wont find it.if i lock it into the memory it will work every time.try to store the freq.when you do get it and see if it works miles away.

Hi Rich,
thanks for that.

I do have a sunroof so I will check that out.

I am putting my stereo in it on friday when the facia panel comes into stock so I will check all the connections and then check the reception on my radio.

I did go into a specialist centre today and they said they had looked into this problem for Fiat but not on this model.

FM is fine at the minute. I am not too worried because I am changing the radio but if it is the same after I have changed it then I will start to get a little upset. I can get a booster cable and I have ordered a longer chrome arial today so I guess we will have to wait and see.

Thanks again, I will post back here on friday with the results.

I have the problem with AM and LW in that with the engine running, there is interference, i do not have this problem with FM. I do have one of the first cars off the line though, so it could be a dodgy build!

anything emitting an EM frequency will interfere with AM/LW radio transmissions, so alternaters etc will cause static. However most modern cars have some sort of shielding for this because it can effect the opperation of other electrical items. Do you have standard head units? Perhaps the interferance is being caused by something else locally (over head power lines etc, weak signal) try your radio out in different places and see what happens.
