Dear All,

I wondered if I could possibly 'pick your brains' so to speak. Today I had a strange experience when driving my Fiat back from work. Over the past week my Fiat had felt like it was juddering a little when pulling off in first gear. It has 67,000 miles and I have done 3,000 miles in it to date. Anyhow, when I bought the car the clutch was good and strong, I have been using it for three weeks now on the motorway but during todays drive I thought I would take it around the country roads on the way back due to the high traffic. During the drive i slowed down to let someone through, at this moment the car felt like the clutch was simply not biting, after I drove and changed gear a few times the clutch felt fine, it now feels better than what it did last week. I have tried the handbrake 2nd gear, 3rd gear trick and it is cutting out with out any spin on the plates. the fluid is at the correct level and there is no rattle when I push the clutch fully in. Could I be correct in presuming this could have been the clutch adjusting down another notch. Is it normal to notice it like this please as I thought I would have been unaware of it happening?

Any help is appreciated.

Many Thanks

Leem.

At 67k you could be getting near to the end of the life of your clutch. Unfortunately there is no foolproof way of forecsting what will happen with your clutch. Symptoms vary from car to car and sometimes clutches just fail without warning. This is not just fiats but all makes. Keep your fingers crossed and keep driving, just keep a lookout for anything strange!
