Thank you JoskeJTD for that. I will have to check the wiring, my warning light has shown up again this afternoon as a punto drove in the back of me and later this evening no warning light a bit confusing loose wire I think.

What makes you think the warning light is to do with the temperature sensor? There are no warning lights just for a dodgy temperature sensor, just the multi purpose engine management light which will light up for a whole host of things.
