Hi, my 1.9JTD bravo just failed its MOT on excessive smoke.

The readings were:-

Test Smoke
1. 5.29 1/m
2. 4.56 1/m
3. 3.55 1/m
4. 3.18 1/m
5. 3.76 1/m
6. 3.06 1/m

Zero Drift 0.05 1/m

Mean Value 3.29 1/m

The car has been sitting on the drive for a week waiting for its MOT and has very little diesel left it in.

I have no idea what the problem is and im hoping that it is because it hasn't been run and the diesel in it is from the bottom of the tank. From the readings I get the impression that its lowering as it runs for longer, but i aint entirely sure.

Anyone got any ideas?

Would appreciate any help at this time.

Thanks Lee

has it been serviced recently ?. things have to be pretty bad for a JTD to fail on smoke. change air filter if not recently changed, check air hoses for splits/leaks and also check the EGR valve. fill tank a bit and take it for a good run.. if its running ok and not down on power, retest and see.
