On my fiat brava 1.2 80bhp sx. when pulling away in 1st gear, it judders, also happens when in reverse. changing to 2nd gear and up, no problem. I've heard it might not be the clutch, but some sort of mount might of collapsed. could this be right? if so, how much would one of these cost, if it is a mount that has collapsed?
(engine mount i think i heard)

Thanks for any info that will help.

Just realised. It only judders when there's a passenger in the car, doesnt judder with only me in the car. anyone have any ideas as what it could be? cheers

Been to see a mechanic today about it. he had a drive and it didnt judder. was told that everything is okay, just that the clutch is very sensitive and might take a while to get used to it. is this quite common with fiat clutches?

How does the clutch feel, heavy, light? That happened to 2 bravos we had, one juddered so violently it would make you nautious and disorientated! Those were solved with a new clutch... The springs fatigue with age and become loose, thats what usually causes this.

It would be also worthwile checking your engine mounts for wear and play, juddering isnt good for them

How long have you had it for? I've just started driving mine and getting used to the heavy (in my case) clutch is something that will take a while so it judders some times if you're not giving it enough revs.

The clutch feels light. it had a new clutch put in it a year ago. I've only had the car for a week now, so i think it might be just a case of getting used to a different biting point/revs needed. hopefully it is just that im new to it. mechanic said i need to get the revs over 1500rpm before bringing clutch up. suppose it will take a while, ive driven a diesel for the last 4 years.

try pulling off without touching the gas at all u should be able to pull off and drive without any revs just tickover ive tryed that on loads of cars and you should be able to change gear all the way to 3rd or 4th you need a flat road and a little bit of clutch control if you carnt do that then either your bit or a crap driver or your cars nakerd ( no meaning any offence here)

if you think that u might be second best to micheal schumacher then ther is a possibillty that there is oil in your clutch plate ( crank seal fooked ) or worn flywheel
