I'm thinking of fitting standard KYB springs at the front to Fiat OE shocks. Has anyone tried this, or is it a good idea? Just wondered if KYB springs are ok and will give the same ride height as OE springs. Thanks.

KYB are a good make, I have the dampers on my 500.

What are you trying to achieve?

How old/mileage of the dampers?

Cheers

Hi SPD OE dampers only 2 years/20,000 miles old, still in good shape. Should have changed the springs back then but didn't. offside spring now sagging so replacing both front springs. Are KYB springs better than OE springs? - they're cheaper than quoted from the dealer! Just also concerned about ride height, want to keep it standard. Thanks.

2 years/20000miles is just about done.

KYB catalogue only shows normal springs for Brava, RG1342, according to the catalogue.

They will be as good if not better than OEM. I doubt Fiat make springs them selves anyway.

chances are they'll be better than the OEM springs, as they're OE spec then they will be the same as the originals. KYB make some good kit.

fiat, or any car manufacturer, don't make any car parts (except body panels) they just assemble cars. the cars are designed around the components they're made of.

ok thanks, I'll use the KYB springs.

Only thing that concerns me is that KYB supply only one spring for the Brava 1.6 1998 on, Fiat have several versions depending on whether the car is automatic or has air conditioning or not. Fiat must be different rated springs due to extra weight? So if I only fit KYB springs at the front is there a chance that the rating will be different from the Fiat rears? Or is it just simpler to change the whole lot!
