Just a quick 1, my heating is't working, i dont think there is a problem with an air lock in the coolant, so im thinking its the thermostat?? I can be driving my car and the temp gauge wont move until i stop!!

Just wanna check before i buy a new thermostat!!

thanks

just had same problem on my cousins car.she bought a therm so i changed it any way but made no difference.found the matrix was blocked.took heater hoses off attached a hose and flushed it out for a while.works a1 now.check both hoses going to heater get hot

That's the thermostat. If your heater matrix is blocked then the engine will still get up to normal temperaturebut there will just be reduced or no flow through the heater

EASY TEST
Start the engine from cold and hold the large hose going from the thermostat to the radiator. After a while you should feel sa sudden rush of very hot water. This is the thermostat opening and it should be too hot to hold onto. So now you know it opens and around the right temperature

Bad sign will be proabably what you will get in that it will slower warm up from square one which shows the thermostat is stuck open
