got some new fog lights for brava on the way but the SX doesnt have them as standard. Is there any way of connecting them to the main fog light switch. is any of the wiring for the standard lights on upper models on place so that i can tap in to it? Thanks.

It'd be easier just to buy a relay kit from a motor accessory shop. As far as i can remember you'd have to buy the 2 fog light switches, headlamp washer and window defogger switch all in one.

seen a kit that ring provide with a switch already in but i dont want to start drilling holes in the dash instead of using the switch provided with the kit could i connect the wires from the kit to the rear fog light switch or would that cause problems.

Please let me know how you get on, it's something I'm considering considering the recent bad weather. Which lights did you go for? I'm considering some smaller 'driving lights' as opposed to the larger round ones (because as you say there's nowhere to put them) but have no idea where to start.

I've spotted fog lights in halfords for about £25 that are small and black and could fit onto the bumper easy enough, can go into that receaded area in the bumper.
Only thing is they only come in black, which is fine for me but may not be so good on the silver brava

Modified the switch setup with another switch from a marea that mine didnt have. tapped into the other foglight illumination led so i can see the button at night. put an ordinary push switch behind the marea one with some wires off it because some of the components on the circuit board are missing (resistors and such). only problem is running the wires down through the dash havent managed to do it yet.
Ordered a set of ring roadrunner fog lamps for 15 quid.

will let you know when i managed to fit them and will post some pictures so you can see what they look like.

finished it tonight. its all working. i had to hack part of the bumper away to fit them in the black recesses either side of the number plate. worked out ok though cos it meant i could mount them to the chassis. threw the modified switches away and opted for a basic fog light wiring kit instead after some of the led's stopped working when i put it in. will post some pics tmrw.

attached some pictures of the car with the fog lights on

Right, I have some small foglights on the way now which should fit into the bumper recesses. Now all I have to do is worry about the wiring. Preferably I would like to go for the option of wiring it into the rear foglight because that way I won't accidentally be dazzling the world. Thoughts please?

The fog light wiring kit has a wire that you tap into your side lights so that you can only have the lights on when the side lights are on. also fog lights are designed not to dazzle anyone if they are positioned correctly. driving lights however will dazzle.

Hi Helz

not sure that is legal, MOT or Plod could be wrong but They should only be able to work when sidelights are activated, and independantly of each other no sides no foglamps, my last car failed mot cause fogs worked on their own, the tec said they need to be activated by the lighing circuit.
Plus how many times do you use your rear fog, me I think once in eight months but could have done with front fogs quite a few times in driving rain, I also think you should know that driving in clear/murky weather with yor rear fog on is an offence it has to be foggy/heavy rain with reduced visability, wouldn't want you to get into trouble with the boys in blue, don't know what they are like down your end, but here in Wales they will do any one to make a buck, plus you may burn out the rear fog switch cause it is carrying to much power, wasn't designed to operate front and rear lamps,
I am going to track down another fog lamp switch same as dash mounted one complete with plug in back and turn it upside down mount it next to the rear fog switch and run it throught an aftermarket relay to the lamps with a made up loom, once I have finished the elecy mirror project

i have never in my life had front fogs checked at mot time and i get at least 4 cars moted in a year.

you could power the relay off the side lights, but not the fogs themselves.
dont put your front fogs on in the rain they reflect off wet road and blind me, fit new clean wipers and clean the greese of your winscreen with washing up liquid, you will then be able to see in very bad rain.
