Hi...

I've '95 Bravo 1.4sx... and you all probably know that 1.4 bravo engine succs... (n) so i was wondering is it possible to swap engine from punto/uno 1.4 turbo and also what do I need to moddifie? I was thinking of buying 2.0 20v turbo engine (fiat coupe), but when I realized how much money I need to spend to change my brakes, front suspenzion, ecu, etc.(hm... I don't even know how te say all that in english :) )...

This is a question that is asked almost evry month with an average of 0 useful replies. I have asked it two months ago, or so without any replies...

The facts. The Punto turbo engine uses the same block as the TIPO 1.4. The TIPO also had an 1.6 engine that's block was the same as the Brava 1.6.
(Also the 1.7D engine of the TIPO shares blocks with the 1,7TD Punto; and the Punto 1.2 as the Brava 1.2)

This means that these pairs should have the same engine mounting points. But I don't know if the TIPO 1.4 and the TIPO 1.6 had the same engine mounting points. If they had, than a PUNTO 1.4GT engine should be a straight swap into a Brava 1.6. But I don't know if the Brava 1.6 and 1.4 engines are interchangeable. (If you lost the point read it once again:) )

I have a Brava 1.6. I was thinking about doing the same thing. But I'm couldn't find any more infos...

I'm seeing some other options also.(Any comments welcomed)

The 1.8 16v 131 hp engine from a Fiat Barchetta/Coupé/Punto II/Stilo or Lancia Delta HPE/Lybra. If anyone knows if this should fit into an 1.6 with no difficulties (gearox etc. can remain the same?), please tell me...

Any Alfa Romeo engines? 1.6/1.8 Twinspark of the 145/146/156
[These are using the sam blocks as Fiat modular engines (The Brava 1.6 is not a modular one:( ) Als does anyone know if these are interchangeable with the 2.0TS or 2.5 V6 of of the 156? ]

2.0 20 v engine from a HGT/Coupé/Marea/Stilo or Lancia Lybra/Kappa
(I believe it shares the engine mounting points with the 1.6 engine, but has to come with it's gearbox, radiaor, generator etc.)

2.4 20v engine from a Stilo/Kappa
(no info, but should be the same as 2.0 20v)

2.0 16v turbo engine from Fiat Coupé or Lancia Thema/Kappa/Delta/Delta HPE
(The Delta HPE shares the same engines 1.6/1.8 as the Brava, but I heard the 2.0 16v will not fit all the engine mounting points of the Brava 1.6. It also has to come with it's gearbox, which has a limited slip differential!!! ).

2.0 20v turbo from Coupé/Kappa
(Same as with the 2.0 20v.Note it can't come with a 6speed gearbox, that doesn't fit into the Brava. But it's ok with the 5 speed one, equipped with the viscous limited slip diff.)

if what your saying is that the punto uses the same block as the bravo then your engine mount brackets should fit the punto engine and should be a straight swap, if you have the engine then what have you got to lose if your good under the bonnett you should be able to do the engine change easy in a day if not a few hours, and if at the worst it dont fit all you will have lost is a days work and just re fit the old engine

Who has the engine?
I don't think anybody buys one just to have a try:)

I could also find an additional info, that the TIPO 1.4 and 1.6 used the same gearboxes (but with a different final drive ratio of course), but still not sure if they had the same mounting points...The easiest way would be finding a Punto Turbo owner, and parking the two cars next to each other...If somebody can do that let us know...
