Hi All
I recently changed a front caliper as it had seized. After fitting new one and bleeding brake, on a drive it feels slow to stop and spongy. I made sure there was no air in system. I put the old pads back on as they were only 6 month old, but i remember them having a shiny surface (since they were binding). Could this be the problem or is it down to bleeding them again. Do i get new pads?

Thanks

Not sure if ABS system brakes behave as older types, but if you think you still have air in the system then you should be able to pump the pedal and then feel it get harder, if it does go harder after 2 to 3 presses then there is still air in system. How many miles had you driven on the old pads in the 6 months they were fitted? It might be that they have worn unevenly and also glazed over due to the squeeling (you stated) then they might get better, if they dont then it's probably a case of new pads again - with the copper grease!

Took it for a brake test at garage. Said pads had glazed and rotors were shagged. Just got new parts.

I had this problem a while back. Both front calipers siezed at seperate times, thankfully i have over 4 spare sets to choose from.... What i found each time i changed the caliper was that because one side was working, it wore that side down prematurely and the other time it happened it done the same with the added bonus of warping a brand new disc :cry::cry: so your best option, once your sure that the calipers are working correctly, get the disc skimmed if theyre in good condition and a new set of pads! Dont forget the rears too, theyd have to do extra when the caliper siezed!!
