Didn't know whether to put this in the ICE section or... mods please move if needed :)

Can't find the dimensions of the tape deck in my Bravo 1.2 mk1 online anywhere, more specifically, the dimensions of the whole it leaves in the dash when taken out. I would try this myself but I don't have my car at the moment.

Reason being I'm thinking of installing, or at least trying to install the CD player from an 07 plate Punto, they look roughly the same size but I imagine some fabrication, etc.. will be needed. This being the CD player in question.

Hi Tom,
I dont have the exact answer, but you can get a facia that allows you to fit any after market head unit.

That punto unit will need a lot of modification in my opinion. I really like the original fitted look, so good luck to you (y)let us know how it goes

Easiest bet would be to pop it out and measure it, I assume it has holes on the front similar to the ones shown on the Punto HU. If it does get a wire coat hanger and make two 'U' shaped devices to poke into those holes, that should release the locks and you can just measure it in situ without having to pull it all the way out.
I assume you already have the dimensions of the Punto unit to compare it to?

Since I only found the Punto HU yesterday on ebay whilst searchin for stereos, I haven't been able to find the dimensions, as daft as it sounds, dimensions for the stereos are pretty scarce around the internet, I spent a good couple of hours that I had spare searching for them. My head unit in my Bravo is officially naffed when I turn it on, I get some sort of code along the lines of OE OK BA and then it just sticks to BBC R2

I haven't had the chance to take out my radio yet, I've spent this morning fitting an accelerator cable since mine snapped last Saturday, but having one set of dimensions wont hurt, in an ideal world I would just be able to go on the fact that ''they look about reyt'' lol.

Thanks for the replies :)

I thought the same as you mate, however the reply I got to a kind question was ''no idea'' so... well fair enough, I'm considering an aftermarket HU but, I just really like the standard look, but I think aftermarket is prob'ly the easiest for me at the moment. Still going to be chasing up the dimensions and checking out what fabrication will be needed.

if its any use to you i fitted an aftermarket HU today with the fascia plate shown above and the quality of it is actually really good you'd never really think that another HU was in it. and it was only £9.99

Dont bother with the fascia above, its tacky and looks awful.

Get your hands on this one from ebay or any good car accessory shop.

I've got one in my car. If you can wait till tomorrow I can post a proper pic for you with the aftermarket headunit in.

Actually I just had an idea, SWMBO will be home soon and has a 57 plate Punto, I've got stereo release keys so could pop it out and have a measure for you (y)
That would be spot on mate cheers, drop me a PM with the sizes :) and when I get my car back ill take mine out and measure the hole dimensions.

It isn't the quality of the fit or anything I have quarms with, it's the look, it looks like the HU ha been pushed in the dash, a very flawed design for this kind of mod, however I've seen a lovely Kenwood in Halfords for 100 notes with iPod and USB connection.
