Hello,

I got a Brava 1999 1.6 100 sx petrol. I have a huge consumption it is about 20 mpg. I changed all the filters and the sparkling plug. I dont have any leakage. does any one know which type of sensor do we have on this brava : MAF, MAP, lamba sensor, flow meter, throttle postion ? is that possible that one of these sensors is the origin of my problem?

I am also feeling something, when I put a little on the petrol, the engine speed decrease to 500 rpm that it increases. I dont have a problem of acceleration but I feel that the car is heavy.

If I change the sensors by myself, do I need to reset the ECU or what will happen ?

Finally, does someone have the technical document and how can I get it ?

Thank you all

If you are talking about urban consumption, I'd say it's normal, slightly high, but not sceary...
I know that you don't have airflow meter, 1.6 is free of them..:)

Before I put my question, I searched and generaly this is car is not a petrol eating machine. What I mean, everyone says that it is around 40 mpg. If that happen I will be very happy :)

My 1.6 tends to drink the juice around town, on a long journey it can do 350miles on a full tank. Just drive her steady. Watch that right foot!!

Hi all,

I just observed that my car take too long (20 minutes) to heat up ( in the middle between c and H). is that normal ? can it be the source of my petrol consumption ? I would like to add that I drive only for 30 minutes per trip.

Could a faulty tempurature sensor cause poor fuel consumption too? I went out for a drive last night and drove as carefully and gently as i could. I did 15 miles and it burnt about 4litres of petrol!
