Hi everyone,

I noticed when I got into my 2001 Brava the other day there was a slight gurgling noise coming from the front of the car under the steering wheel which can only really be heard when in the car. It sounds like an escaping of air or liquid and since then the steering has progressively become more stiff and hard to turn. This is however only when I am parked or moving very slowly which would lead me to believe the power steering is failing.

Anybody any ideas what the cause of this might be?

Cheers,
A

Have you checked the level of the power steering fluid? If its low it will let air in causing the problems you describe. If it is low, it will have leaked out from somewhere, they dont need 'topping up'.

Hey there and thanks for the response - Yeah I have since noticed that there is a fluid on the ground where I park my car and it seems to be coming from underneath the driver side of the engine - Looks like there is a leak somewhere along the line. Probably best to go straight to a mechanic with it.

Cheers,

How much power steering fluid do you have in the reservoir?

How much, if any, has been lost since your last weekly check?

Cheers
