Hi I have just bought a Bravo 80sx and the heat doesn't come out of any of the vents. The fans work fine and blow, but no heat even when the engine is up to temp. Is this an easy fix? or will I have to take it to a garage to get fixed? Would a haynes manual explain how to fix a problem like this?

Thanks, new to fiat!:)

Trapped air in the heater circuit is pretty common. So is a stuck open thermostat so find out
is the thermostat working and is there hot water going to the heater?

is the thermostat working
Hold the large coolant pipe going from the thermostat back to the radiator and start the engine from cold. The pipe should feel cold for a quite few minutes and then a sudden rush of heat, too hot for you to hold on. Ok your thermostat has just opened and so is working. Bad news would be very slowly heating up and never really getting that warm= thermstat stuck open

is there hot water feed to the heater
Engine running and heater fan off. Hold the pipes going to and from the heater where they go through the bulkhead. Are they both too hot to hold onto? No? One pipe stone cold? =Airlock in the heater circuit. Read up on how to bleed the coolant system. Not difficult but you need to follow the routine

Remember the rad fan could come on at any time so no dangly bits near there please

Funnily enough, mine's just started playing up...

It's had a sloshing noise on start-up for a while now, so there must be some air in the system.

Then last weekend I couldn't get warm air out, and also the engine didn't seem to get up to temperature on the gauge. After a while I was able to get some heat bit it was intermittent, similarly the temperature sometimes works properly.

I'll try bleeding it at the weekend, but maybe something stuck in the heater circuit with not being used over the summer...

I've had this problem before on mine, try bleading the radiator, that was the problem on mine. Start up the car, let the engine get to temp, open the screw on the back of the radiator, (to the left of the radiator looking from the front of the car) let that bleed, then screw it back up, there are two others behind the engine, do the same going in series, and if everything is thermostat etc... then your heating should be very warm.

Make sure you have a lot of water handy haha.
