Hi folks,

I've just bought a 1999 105 ELX JTD & am puzzled by a red light on the dash. It's situated below the indicator lights between the speedo & rev counter. According to the handbook this is the brake pad warning light but I can't see how it is because the pads are new. Also the light is not solid when it illuminates, it flickers & the brightness seems to change with the revs, which implies it may be a turbo cut-in indicator but the handbook says nothing about this. Or is it simply a loose connection? Any experiences/views would be gratefully received, cheers!

Sounds like a loose connection matey. There is a short wire that connacts from you passenger side brake pad. Chances are that this has come loose.

Wimmy has got it spot on. My light came on and the pads were needing replaced but on replacing them noticed the light was still on because the wire had fallen out after i had put the wheel back on. Whip your front left wheel off and have a look for a wire dangling around next to your caliper.

If the outer "brackets" are broken then that is brake pad wear. If the outer "brackets" are solid thats Handbrake on OR more likely 0 low brake fluid warning.

On the JTD if its the light next to the rev counter - check you fluid!
