Please help! On my way home my car was ok and was lucky that I got home as I could hear a grinding noise using the steering wheel as I was reversing I could see liquid on the floor and looked at my temperature gauge and was only on the second line up which on a ten minute drive it is normally half way. Does any one know what it is? As my car has been in a garage for a couple of days having the rear main and Sump leak repaired. I am so confused what is going on has the garage done it as I got them to check the compression test or is this not related. Thanks to those who reply, Julie & Sid.

Not more problems. :)

Sounds like the power steering has packed in or there's a leak from one of the power assisted steering hoses. First thing to do is check the power steering fluid levels. The beige coloured container on the bulkhead with a steering wheel symbol on it.

The temp level sounds normal. Atleast its not overheating. The level varies depending on outside temp and if you use the internal heating during your journey.

I don't think the garage had something to do with it as the compression test is done from above the engine. The power assisted steering etc is at the lower rear of the engine. How when they worked on the sump they would be very close to it. I would find out whats leaking. The steering rack, the pipes to the steering rack etc. You can usually tell if the damage is man made or worn out.

Did i mention check the power steering fluid?

Hi JoskeJTD, I called out the AA and said it was the sensor! It's about £35.00 to buy it and just screw it in and connect the wire. I have ordered one and hope I can collect it tomorrow morning and fit it on Sunday! YAY lol. Have a great weekend! Thanks again, Julie.
