I'm fed up of bodyroll so I'm following Jug's advice to previous posters, and fitting KYB shocks with lowering springs (35mm drop) as soon as I get paid. This is going on a 1.8HLX Bravo.

I've looked on the kyb website and thy've got a choice of 2 types for the rear end, 'Excel - G' and 'Gas - a - just' - both are a similar price but I can't tell which is best. Any ideas?

Also, I take it that I won't need specially lowered shocks for a 35mm drop? I don't want to have to replace shocks every 5k miles :)

Thx.

Any will be fine, new shocks make a huge difference to old ones. You ideally need short shocks on a drop below 40mm. So your fine. Only thing with lowering is that your tyres will wear unevenly. So you may end up going through more tyres than normal.

When you say that tires may wear more quickly than usual, is it a significant difference to normal wear? Like, halved lifespan or something? That could be annnoying if so. Is it possible to realign the camber etc to account for this?

Lowering may change the way the car sits on the road a little, i.e. more wear on the inner edges or something. If you're fussy you can have the camber adjusted.

If you are lowering and changing the shocks, it's always better to get a matched set / kit, even for a 30-35mm drop. It may cost a bit more but you're doing the job properly.

If you just want to tidy up your ride in general then simply fit the KYB Excels and forget the springs, they are firmer than standard and being new they will improve the ride, noise and handling.
