hi people ive got a problem with my 2000 bravo 100 16v my oil light comes on now and again when the cars up to temperature what it does is when i break and down to low revs it comes on and when i press the throttle it goes back off it flickers like theres a wiring fault it only had a service 8 week ago so i know theres plenty of oil in it i can be going along at 30mph take it out of gear and just let it roll it will come on put it back in gear and it will go out:mad:
Ive also got a front end knock sounds like the drivers side wheel area it only knocks when going over bumps and pot holes
any help would be much appreciated cheers

The problem seems to be that you have low oil pressure. At tickover it may be 1 bar for example, and at 4k rpm 4 bar, seems that at low rpm you don't have enough oil pressure. I wouldn't drive it if the oil light is coming on as things will potentially go very wrong. Could of course be faulty sensor etc but it isn't worth risking it until you know.

The knocking could be worn rubbers somewhere, impossible to tell without looking.

Hi mate, firstly mine has a knocking sound exactly the same as yours which is being sorted now. It is the anti roll bra link. I can almost guarantee its the same as yours. Bu too be safe check ur wheel nuts coz i had that problem with nuts b4 and sounds the same knocking sound.

Secondly, are you sure its the oil light? Because my brake pad light used t cum on the same as urs which i mistook for the oil light. It turned ou the i just needed to unplug '''low brake pad sensor'''.

Cheers

Knocking could be the wishbone or balljoint. You can turn the wheel full lock an have a look under the wheel/hub The rubber boot/cover will be split an possibly leaking grease.

hi mate thanks for ya help where abouts is the sensor on these im new to fiats thanks

No problem, I'll have a look in the service manual.

If you have an oil pressure test, it is 1 bar at idle and 4 bar at 4k rpm for yours, at temp of 100 degrees C.

ill have it checked out soon as the temperature gauge reaches half way it comes on but it gotta be dead on not a mil under weird lol

Haynes says it's on the oil pump housing at the front of the block behind the oil filter. It says if the top of the switch is loose it is a sign of impending failure.

I guess it's just because the oil pump can't give sufficient pressure as soon as the oil temp is up to whatever it is at half way, it's a threshold limit for the light to come on. Be careful and good luck (y)

had a look at the car today the ball joints completly worn so got a full wishbone and balljoint on order for 17 quid cheers for posting
