hi there, a friend of mine has a fiat bravo, (hydrolic clutch) late 98, (s reg) and is having troubles with the clutch system. i have searched through the forum to all threads related to clutch systems and have found similar problems but kinda need confirmation on which component is playing up and how much it would potentially cost to put right given that ill do the work for him.
the problem is this:
it began with a clicking sound when the clutch was pushed down, i dont think that this was the spring catching as this then stopped and it started making a whining noise when the clutch was pushed down. Then it stopped altogether. It can be forced in gear while the car is off but it will not start. i believe that this would be the release bearings, correct??? also, is it likely for any other parts to be playing a part in this as it has gotten to the position as the car wont start in gear at-all i.e. the fork broken or grazed from contacting the bearing, the clutch plates themselves, would these need replacing at the same time or is this something that comes in the kit? or any other components not listed. the master and slave dont appear to have any visual problems and i believe the correct length of travel on the slave is achieved upon pressing the clutch. thanks very much in advance for your responce and im sorry if this exact problem has been covered in the past and i just havnt found it. cheers
