Hi Guys,

Ok, now I've installed the new gear knob & gaiter, I can't help but notice that my handbrake lever now looks very naff and tatty !!
I've seen replacement handles and gaiters in places like Ripspeed in Halfords and quite like the aluminium 1's, altho, I'll b doing a bit more seaching b4 I buy.

2 questions tho'....as before with the gear knob !

1. Has any1 ever done this and how easy is it ?

2. Any recommendations 4 replacement parts ?

All suggestions welcome (xcept 1's that question my parentage !! LOL :D )

Cheers,

Rob.

I know it's an old topic but thought i'd share my problems, no, challenges in fitting a new handbrake lever/gator...

...Just fitted a momo handle and momo gator. First prob was getting the original handle off. The best way i found was to use a thin/flatblade screwdriver to prise the rubber handle away and spray a lube (WD40 etc) inside the rubber. A bit of workin around and it popped off no problem.

Fitted the new stuff only to find that the hole for the handbrake/gator was far bigger than the gator itself. To get around this i have made a kind of box trimmed in grey carpet to reduce the gap for the gator. It is built into the underside of the centre console where the huge gear lever hole is. Any probs i can show pics etc of what i did. Now happy with full momo gear & handbrake combo!!

that momo is wicked but costs soooo much, aint it like £50 for the handle, £30 for the leather and £10 for the adapter? if you have pics that would be cool.

HAve to admit i wouldn't normally spend that much on this stuff but it is niiice. Got the lot through xmas/b-day presents from the missus, helps that she's as mad on motors as me!!

Got an adapter for the handle but couldn't for the life of me work out where it went (didn't seem to need it anywhere!) so that went back to the shop. Pics on the way!!

Si, it was a pain in the arse, the paint kept reacting and is still doing it.
If you do it make sure all the bits are well cleaned and I mean WELL CLEANED, then spray on plastic primer and let it dry fully. I put my bits in the oven for a bit, then spray it up. I bought all my stuff from Halfords and it mite be worthwile using a clear laquer to finnish.
p.s When you clean use thinners not sure if the plastic will melt tho'

Kendz,

Do you have any pics of the box you made to make the gaiter fit in the rather larger than usual gap on the bravo? I'm having the same problem and would love to see how you've managed to solve it.

Thanks,

Matt.
