Hello again all, just hit quite a serious problem in the hgt.Going down the motorway and the car just started vibrating very violently. When i eventually got it to a garage it seemed my drivers brake caliper was seized on.The disc was glowing red and it took some serious leverage to free it.Tried to get a caliper from my local motor factor only to be told its fiat only.Luckily the fiat garage done me a caliper for 80 quid as it was on the shelf and he wanted rid of it(should of been 165!!).I was going to get the caliper serviced but the previous owner had this done b4 so it will only happen again. The garage said i could really do with some new discs and pads as the disc is probably warped quite badly.Even now its still a funny blue colour.I was quoted 40 each for normal discs and 28 for pads.i was just wondering if anyone had any prices or guides for some uprated ones mabe drilled and grooved or summat.I noticed on a search that polecat i think ,had some exceptionally sexy green pads and grooved discs. The thing is i need the car fixing ASAP so i'd need to be able to pick em up soon as.Any help appreciated,Thanks Al.
Only problem is the money i was gonna use for my chip and air filter are now going on brakes, but i suppose its no good going fast if u cant stop.lol

Thanks Polecat,I've just done some searching round the web and need for speed seemed too be one of the cheapest.Gonna try a few places which didnt have online prices and a couple who said they'd price match tomorrow.Have you noticed any real performance increse. On the odd occasion in my car with standard brakes, after a bit of a thrashing you get loads of fade.Do these eliminate this(not to imply that you would drive in an irratic way as to cause brake fade in the first place :) )Even if they dont looks like i'm gonna get em as they look real nice on yours. When i do i'll post some pics.Cheers Al

I have Black diamond drilled with predator pads on my hgt, never let me down yet. I went into a roundabout way too hot last week after flying past an mr2, I am still thankful for the upgrade they were incredibly stable and I doubt the standard disc pads combo would have stopped me.
I have some standard disks in the garage with plenty of life left in them if you don't want to go the upgrade route...might still be able to afford your other toys :)

Couldnt resist,Deemon Tweeks done a price match and got black diamond combis and some green stuff pads for 180 quid including delivery.Just cant wait 5 days now.Looking forward to being able to stop.Cheers for the advice chaps.Just off to hire a car for the weekend(oooh fuuuun).Cheers al

Got the new Caliper today still waiting on discs and pads. The only thing is the new caliper is a lovely new gold colour and the other is 6 year old black-gray one.So before discs and pads fitted was wondering what colour to paint the calipers. The car is ink black discs will be black and pads green!!!Any suggestions appreciated.
On another note Jayfish,I'm definitly interested in the chip if your still selling it.But will be take a few weeks to replenish my funds after the brakes are all done.I dont really know how much to offer for the chip so send me a PM and i'll negotiate that way,if thats ok mate.
Will post pics of the brakes when all done, should be monday, hope it is currently using a 206 1.4 hdi hire car that couldnt pull you out of bed.
Cheers Al

Do you have a contrasting colour on your car anywhere?
Otherwise IMHO silver would look best, I have a silver pack waiting for decent weather. (Prob a job for next year now). Yours disks will remain black for about 2 brake applications before becoming polished steel.
